On this day, 2 November 1985 … Every three hundred years, the Treen Empire was given a new leader. All the knowledge, and the heart of evil, of the old Mekon was transferred to the puny body and ginormous bonce of a new host. It’s an interesting aspect of Dan Dare lore of which I was previously unaware, and provides an excuse for this first-class Carlos Cruz cover and a great display of Mekonic green meanness as the new villain demonstrates his updated weapon systems.
Elsewhere in this issue, Eagle appears to be in great shape with excellent episodes of Doomlord (son Enok takes on a school bully), Billy’s Boots (Billy discovers a fire at the local football ground), The Computer Warrior (Bobby Patterson plays Ghostbusters), Star Rider (Terry takes his true alien form and encounters a race of diamond-based creatures), Death Wish (Blake goes paragliding) and The Thirteenth Floor (Max takes his former spy-boss Auberon on an assassination mission on the death-island of Lee Van Choo).
