On this day, 18 February 1978 … in its earlier years of the 1960s and early 1970s, Buster had a stronger mix of adventure serials mixed in with its regular roster of humour strips. By 1978 it was mainly the fun stuff (alongside double-page serialsThe Runaways, The Leopard from Lime Street and the final episode of long-running Pete’s Pocket Army) but it’s interesting to note that a few of those currently runing at the time of this issue were episodes in larger ongoing storylines. We join Gums under the influence of a hypnotist who has convinced him he is a puppy, Harry in the middle of a sporting challenge against local bully-boy Nick Carter and Faceache stranded at sea with schoolmasters Snipe and Thrashbottom.
