Carson’s Cubs get scrappy in Lion.

Lord Algy Davenport and Curly Mopp were two of the schoolboy XI representing First Division Newton Town for many years. Teammates included Swotty Brayne, Sammy & Ginger Fyre, Pud Perry, Tiddler Smith and Andy Streak.

I believe Fred T. Holmes was the regular artist for Carson’s Cubs. His style has rough edges and dynamism that seem ahead of their time in 1970, but well suited to the unruly tone of the strip. The Cubs were very much the banter boys of their day.
